Coastal Scents Undercover High Definition Foundation
From the Coastal Scents Newsletter....
Coastal Scents Under Cover High Definition Foundation has arrived after 8 months of testing. A soft focus, flawless, natural finish is needed when under the scrutiny of a camera in HD. Our foundation applies with light weight texture; a very small amount is needed to cover your skin.

With photography, film and live television using high definition focus, (meaning that the camera and monitor sees everything magnified), HD application has become a part of training for makeup artists in today's industry. The colors need to stay consistent in all types of lighting, what does not work well in HD is sparkle and shine. Reach for matte bronzers, blush and shadows.
HD makeup is now obtainable to everyone, you also can reap the benefits of that HD flawless look, and this is not just for makeup artists. It is important that your skin is prepared prior to application in order to achieve the finish. Practice gentle exfoliation and polishing of the skin; use of a matte primer and non greasy moisturizer; a loose mineral or pressed matte finishing powder. The silicone in HD helps to absorb your skins natural oils and fill in small lines. Sparkles and shiny skin will only attract the eye/camera to the flaws you want to conceal from it.
Greetings from Naples, Florida

Diazolidinyl Urea, Phenoxethanol Methylparaben, Propylparaben
May Contain Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Iron OxidesMade in P.R.C.
Hmm, looks interesting. A lot of cosmetic lines have been coming up with their own HD line. Coastal Scents has 14 shades, though there arent ay reviews yet since this is a fairly new product.
Its something id want to try, since it is a lot cheaper than most HD foundations. Though im pretty happy with RCMA (for matte finish) or Cinema Secrets (for a dewy finish). I see that this has the ingredient Titanium Dioxide listed! Im quite allergic to the word haha and I always look for it in ingredients list. Most if not all foundations have this ingredient though. But if it contains a large amount of it, this is when you get that Geisha look on photographs haha. I wonder how much this one has.
Looks promising, but you sometimes get what you pay for (its relatively quite cheap compared to other HD foundations) I hope it doesnt dissapoint. Please let me know if any of you have tried it. :)

Brush Insanity
I know I just posted a review on Kirkland's brush set a few weeks back. And here I am again, about to review another brush set. And mind you, not just any brush set but a 30 piece set! Yes, Yes, I am insane LOL The Kirkland set is for personal use as well as the ** other brushes I have haha.
So why did I get another one? I got this for Makeup Classes and future Clients hehe. I dont think im lacking in brushes haha but its one thing to have brushes to use on yourself and to have to use it on other people as well. For hygiene freaks, that would be nightmare. I suppose you could wash them after using on yourself and before using on other people but thats a bit of a hassle.
I originally wanted the 28 piece brush set from Suesh (costs P4,500) I though it was insane to spend 4,500 cause I knew I was going to need to buy a few more things for makeup school. So I tried to convince myself I didnt need another set. But when we enrolled, we saw this set - they were selling it too. 30 piece brush set by Dashe Cosmetics for P3,400. So thats less than P1,100 and has 2 more brushes! haha Figured, it would be good to invest on a set anyway if I really wanted to pursue this. Soo walah! haha.
Product images:

Brush Roll. Totally deceiving in photos. I felt so
overwhelmed when I saw it in person haha

Insane!

Why you should buy it?
- Almost all of the brushes are really soft and dense
- I like that there are a lot of e/s applicator spares. Saves time when you need to do makeup on more than one person
- Has extra concealer/ lip brushes too
- The blending brush is awesome
- I like the small round tipped flat srufaced fluffy brush (what a mouthful lol) I only have one thats similar to it so its good that this set has one. I like to use this to highlight or for applying powder under the eyes
- I really like the Brush powder (the one with white and black tipped hair) it's like a kabuki on a stick!
- Its a good set to buy if you plan on taking makeup classes
- Its of good quality
- No shedding at all!
- The mini detail eyeliner brush! I wasnt expecting that this set would have it. I do like this more than the one I purchased at landmark. Its just the right size and makes it easier to draw lines or shapes with precision.
- Its a lot cheaper than the 28 piece brush set from Suesh (though I cant compare the two)
What you should consider
- I prefer synthetic brushes, this one is made of animal hair :/
- You have to wash these thoroughly when you get it, almost all of the brushes bled.
- Be careful how you store them, the bigger brushes tend to bush out when placed back in the brush roll/case after drying haha
- Make sure brushes are completely dry before you place the plastic brush holders (to maintain the brushes' shape) cause it will stiiinkkkk!
- The Round tipped flat surfaced fluffy blush brush is a bit scratchy.
- I wish it had one more blending brush
- I dont like the angled brush for the eyebrows, I dont think its stiff enough or maybe im just so used to the one from the Kirkland set.
Ive already used these brushes and I do like them, no complaints at all really. I dont understand the Nose contouring? brush though haha it's odd shaped but im sure i'll find some use for it. But other than that, all the brushes from this set are great. I did mention that the round tipped flat surfaced fluffy blush brush (whew!) is a tad bit scratchy, it isnt as scratchy as the brushes you get at Watsons haha but compared to the rest of the brushes from this set, it isnt as soft.
Very happy with my purchase and very excited to use this for school. See? Im almost done with my list of things to buy for school. Oh well haha at least ill be more prepared for it by January :D

32 Lip Palette
As promised here is a review and swatches of the 32 lip palette. :) This is the bigger palette. There are two 32 lip palette, the other one is the compact palette and they have different lipstick shades. I personally prefer the bigger palettes shades.
I got this from Dollface Cosmetics for P700 (including the 50 shipping fee). Purchased it for makeup classes before I finally decided to postpone it for next year. I was surprised that it was packed with a lot of bubble wrap. Id understand if it was an eyeshadow palette. Dont thnk this would crack easily but kudos to Pearl from Dollface Cosmetics for making extra sure the palette gets here in perfect condition.
Here are Product images and swatches:

Some of the shades leaked? I think its the oil component of the
lipstick that leaked during shipping, no biggie though

Size comparison, next to a 10 peso coin

on my arm; its actually on reverse my bad haha labeled it so you can
tell which is which. Click on the image to view in full size

A really bad job swatching on my lips haha
Why you should buy it:
- Comes in 32 different shades
- Easier to travel with just one palette instead of dozens of lipsticks hehe
- Almost all of the shades are very pigmented. Has matte lipsticks, frosts and only 3 are sheer
-Im sure you cant see much of the difference with the colors from my picture, but only two colors are very similar (the bronze/gold ones)
- Creamy texture, easy to apply
- Has a good range of colors. You can also mix the colors.
- Affordable
What you should consider:
- You might want to ask for the ingredients especially if youre very sensitive or have allergies
- Lip Palettes have a shorter shelf life than lipstick tubes
- Make sure to be hygienic with it because bacteria tends to thrive more on products that are in (well) palettes
- You have to store this in a cooler place to prevent it from melting.
I think this is a good palette to start out with especially if youre budgets a bit tight. This would also make for a really good christmas gift! I purchased this becuase I didnt want to carry too many lipsticks in my case, didnt want to have too many extra bags/containers to bring to school and didnt want to spend too much haha. Overall a great product!
