Nail Art: Water Marbling

Im always jealous of you girls who can do nail art on yourselves. Heck, im even jealous of you girls who can paint your own nails haha. I suck at nail painting and always make a lot of mess. To ensure I get Nail Polish on my entire nail surface, I paint my fingers too hahaha.

Right click on Images to view in full size :D

Not bad eh? :D

I came across Trishza's blog page and saw her post on Water Marbling. At first I thought, "Wow what sort of Nail Art equipment do use to get snazzy nails like that?" haha Im totally clueless when it comes to nail art. And as I read and scrolled futher down I saw that you can actually do it yourself. You can search for water marbling or watch this video to learn how to do it

This was done with acrylic nails though. its basically the same thing you just dip your
finger on a pattern that you like.

Im a sucker for DIY projects! The tougher, the messier, the more I want to do it! I dont succeed most of the time haha I just like the challenge. So I took out my nail polishes and got ready to try it on myself. And voila!! well no, it sucked when I first tried it..lol

EPIC FAIL!
I couldnt get round circles on the water and I think I put too much nail polish. The pinky finger nail looks good though, but I didnt like the color (I used Beige and a Hot Pink color from Caronia) so I removed it.

Like most challenging DIY projects I take up on, after failing I move on haha. But my nails were icky and I couldnt leave em like that. So I decided to try again. I used White (Kiss Nail Polish), Beige (Caronia) and Teal (Claire's Nail Polish). This time determined to make it work.

I skipped on a minor detail (aplying tape around the area of your nail before dipping) and I so regretted it because I ran out of Acetone haha. I ended up having to scrub my hands :/ So please, if youre trying this at home. Dont be a lazy ass and apply tape around the nail area.

I tried my best to take a good picture. But my Phone's camera cant handle details. i love the very detailed swirly pattern. And the patterns are all different. Every nail is unique. Added some nail stickers to some areas where it looked bare.

Pictures crappy. It looks much better in person :) haha

Im loving it for now. But its mediocre, I will definitely be getting more nail polishes to try different colors :)

And here is my cat, Fluffy, posing for all of you! haha. Right click on the image and you'll see her funny face. I didnt see it until I placed the watermark on it haha

Have a Great Weekend Everyone! :D

Twilight makeup, anyone?

I happen to be surfing and came across an article about Twilight Makeup!! Crazy right? Just a few weeks ago I saw Twilight candies and now they have Twilight makeup? What?! haha. They have everything from eyeshadows, lipglosses, mascara, blushes, palettes, eyelid primer and a whole bunch of stuff to get you to look vampy hot! LOL

From the website,

"The goal for Twilight Beauty was to create two beautiful and striking lines that women could fall in love with, much in the same way they fell in love with the Twilight saga. The hope is that, beyond the lure of its edgy, sophisticated packaging, true makeup consumers will find they have discovered products they can’t live without."

There are two lines which were released in conjuction with the release of the Movie, New Moon. Totally riding on Twilight's success in my opinion, but definitely a genius idea! What with the holidays just around the corner, im sure tweens all over the world and perhaps most Twilight fans would want to own some Twilight makeup. Great Stocking Stuffer! haha :)

Here are some of the more interesting product images from the Luna Twilight line:

"Mortal Glow Blushing Creme" $22

A blend of mousse and cream with a satiny finish. Distinct colors create a
melange that forms a pattern unique to each individual blush.

Swoon - the ultimate trio of nudes
Adrenaline - Warm and cool pinks blended

  • Shades remind me a lot of the MSF's from the M.A.C. Sugar Sweet Collection

"Luna Twilight Color Palettes" $28

Bella – Soft and Subtle with nude shadows, warm nude blush, nude lipstick and the sheerest cherry red gloss.

Victoria – Bold and Fiery with shimmering jewel-toned shadows and deep wine colored lipstick and gloss.

Rosalie – Regal and Refined with peach toned shadows, a coral blush and apricot lipsticks and gloss.

Alice – Eclectic and Spunky with shimmering blue and silver shadows, rosy blush and sheer hot pink lips.

"Twilight Venom" $16

"Twilight Venom is a shimmering crimson lip stain suspended in a venom-laced lip conditioner with an intensely potent bite. Its exhilarating formula plumps and hydrates with argan oil, avocado oil, olive oil and vitamin E."

Because you cant just credit immortality for their gorgeous faces. No, no, they have Vollturi makeup for that! hahaha. They also have a makeup line called Volturi Twilight! haha This is seriously amusing me and kudos to the person/team who pitched this idea!

Here are some of the more interesting product images from the Volturi Twilight line:

"Volturi Crown Mettalic Mascara" $16

Volumizing and lengthening with a metallic finish. Available in 3 shades: Black Knight, Royal Blue and Silver Plated

  • The also have a Mascara from the Luna Twilight line that comes in Panther (Dark Brown), Lapiz (Almost indigo blue) and Mist (silver)

"Volturi Foreshadow Eyelid Primer" $11

Silky champagne colored balm that goes on colorless to prime the lids for creaseless, long lasting shadow application.

  • Now this looks like something id want to try haha

"Labyrinth Loose Eyeshadow" $9

Decadent shimmer shadows in stackable compartments.

Available in the following shades:

Lover – hot shimmering pink
Myth – warm metallic pewter
Frost – snowy white shimmer
Beloved – iridescent baby pink
Dusk – Deep metallic eggplant
Dawn – Sparkling champagne
Legend – glittering silver

All items posted on this blog post and a few more other products are available at www.Twilightbeauty.com For people from the UK and Europe you may get your hands on these by ordering at www.simplebeauty.co.uk

Very very interesting haha. I mean come on, even I want to own a Volturi Mascara hahaha. The packaging is really nice too! Its just too bad this makeup line wont be available to anyone from outside the US, Europe and UK for now. But im pretty sure theyd be getting a lot of orders this Holiday Season! :)

Have a great weekend everyone! :D

Coastal Scents HD Foundation - Fafinette Review

The Coastal Scents Under Cover HD Foundation Review from Fafinette. Just thought id share this to those who havent seen it :)

Okay, so there are yellow based shades. Hard to tell from the Product Photo that Coastal Scents realeased. Or maybe im just color blind haha. I really hate choosing shades based off photos on the internet. Colors arent true and may vary depending on your computers specs.

Anway, just a bit odd. I thought she said she's a color in between nc37 and 40. And nc37 was a little light for her. But the Coastal Scents Foundation shes using looks much much much lighter than nc37 when she swatched them. hmmm..

It does look good. Ive been on the hunt for a liquid foundation. Ive been wanting to try the one from MAC, but studio sculpt broke me out. Too afraid to try another one from MAC cause the formula might be causing the breakout. This might be a good one to try...maybe..not 100% convinced that its a fantastic product haha. but we'll see :) cant wait to see more reviews on it.

Ohh and thank you to those who take the time to log on to the yahoo ping box on the right sidebar! :) it really means so much to me that you guys tell me that you read my blog, love it or like it. Thank you thank you so much! :)

Ive also gotten a few questions but didnt get to answer them. My laptop is on almost 24/7 and I leave my yahoo messenger on all the time (even when im sleeping -weird, I know) so I sometimes dont get to see the messages until later on and have no way of contacting the person who left me a message. If you have comments, suggestions or questions please dont be shy and email me at sooo_sheee@yahoo.com I will try to get back at you as soon as possible. And thank you thak you again! :)

NARS Review

About a week ago, I had the chance to attend a NARS workshop at Rustans Glorrietta. It was headed by International Makeup Artist for NARS, Marc Christopher Gale. There were only 4 of us, so we were lucky to have had Marc all to ourselves haha.

The main focus of the workshop was their skin care line. Its new to the Philippines. And I must say I love the Aquagel Hydrator. After slapping some on my face I thought, okay I look like a greasy pan. But the shine went away after a while and my skin felt instantly hydrated! Though its around 3,000-4,000 so I passed up on that.

We basically got to try out anything we wanted during the workshop, and though id love to do a review on the skin care line. I believe that skin products should be tested for at least 2-4 weeks before you can make a proper review on them. But here are some of the Products I got to try:

  • Sheer Glow Foundation in Barcelona

Image taken from Sephora

What Sephora says:
A glowing, satin-finish foundation with sheer and buildabl coverage. This Sheer Glow Foundation enhances, without masking, your overall natural complexion. The weightless formula hydrates the skin while complexion brightening properties improve skin brightness, radiance, and texture, leaving skin with a luminous, sensual glow Medium with golden peachy undertone

My thoughts:
- The color looked great and you only needed a small amount
- I found it cakey though and I found that it kind of emphasized flaws and lines
- It also creased on me

  • Concealer in Ginger and Custard

Image taken from Sephora

What Sephora says:
The essential must have product for women and men alike, Nars concealer boasts a creamy, yet lightweight texture enriched with vitamin E, for long lasting, crease resistant coverage. Packaged in a lipstick like tube. Nars concealer makes touch up applications effortless. Ginger for medium and olive complexions/ golden suntan undertones. Custard for light and medium complexions/ neutral-to-yellow undertones.

My thoughts:
-Marc told us to use the darker shade to neutralize the circles under the eyes and to use the lighter shade to blend and even out the tone
- I found the concealer sticks are a bit too dry and I hate concealers for under the eyes that are hard to blend. You really dont want to tug the skin under the eyes. Its too bad cause the shades were perfect for my skin
- I found that it creased a lot too! I had to blend over and over again.

  • Bronzing powder in Casino
Image taken from Sephora

What Sephora says:
Nars Bronzing Powder is a true brown-based bronzer with a gold shimmer fusion that's excellent for creating or enhancing the look of healthy, glowing, tanned skin. Dark brown with golden shimmer

My thoughts:
- Ive been lemming on this for the past 6 months hehe so its no surprise I went home with it.
- Casino suits my coloring perfectly. I look like I have the perfect tan!
- The shimmer isnt overpowering too, Ive also tried to use it to contour my cheeks and forehead and works really well.

  • Highlighter in Albatross

Image taken from Sephora

What Sephora says:
A soft, sheer pressed powder blush. A range of translucent, natural shades, each with a subtle pink for natural blush undertone, created to highlight the complexion. Designed to be worn alone or layered together for more depth, NARS Blush provides a health glow to flatter any skintone. Albatross is Sheer light golden Sheen.

My thoughts:
- A Very Beautiful highlighter
- Gives a subtle shimmer that helps define and accentuate features.
- I didnt think that the shade would look good on my coloring, but its very impressive. I have my eyes on this one next hehe

  • Blush in Super Orgasm + Angelika

+
Image taken from Sephora

What Sephora says:
A soft, sheer pressed powder blush. A range of translucent, natural shades, each with a subtle pink for natural blush undertone, created to highlight the complexion. Designed to be worn alone or layered together for more depth, NARS Blush provides a health glow to flatter any skintone. Super Orgasm peachy pink with gold glitter, Angelika cotton candy

My thoughts:
- Nars is well known for their blushes. Super Orgasm is very similar to the cult favorite Orgasm. The first time I saw Super Orgasm I thought it would leave me looking like a clown. The glitters scared me off. But I was surprised that it was as good and as flattering as Orgasm.
- I wouldnt have thought of mixing Angelika and Super Orgasm but it was Marc who suggested it, and I actually do love it!
- For those who have not tried Nars blushes, they are very pigmented and the shades are all lovely. When applied lightly they give a natural looking glow to the skin.

  • The Multiple in Copacabana

Image taken from Sephora

What Sephora says:
Nars The Multiple is the original all-in-one, cream-to-powder, multi-purpose makeup stick. With fingertip application, The Multiple highlights, sculpts, and warms eyes, cheeks, lips and body in an array of shades from sheer accents to mauve and bronze. Copacabana is a Glistening Pearl shade

My thoughts:
- Im not a fan of this. but I only got to try Copacabana as eyeshadow base.
- This kept creasing on my lids so I dont suggest that you wear this alone as eye makeup.

  • Eyeshadow Duo All About Eve and Misfit

+

Image taken from Sephora

What Sephora says:
Modern and creative combinations, expertly coordinated by Francoi Nars to take the guesswork out of pairing the perfect shade combination.

My thoughts:
- The e/s are very pigmented and easy to blend
- I do find that some of the colors dont show very well on my skin. The blue from misfit wasnt as bright on my lid despite the numerous layers of e/s base hehe. I think NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk would help make the colors pop more.
- I need more than just two shades when doing my eye makeup, so I wouldnt get these if I didnt have other e/s colors.

  • Black eyeliner

Image taken from Sephora

What Sephora says:
A felt-tpped liquid eye liner pen. This liquid eye liner pen allows for maximum control during application - ensuring a precise, even line with just one stroke.

My thoughts:
- I dont know if it was just the sample, but i did find it kind of dry so I had to go over and over on the line to get a decent pigmented line on my lashline.
- We were also told that this is best used slanted instead of using the tip

  • Lipstick in Schiap

Image taken from Sephora

What Sephora says:
A pure, creamy, ipstick formula for bold color. Nars Lipsticks are enriched with Vtamin E to icrease wearability and keep true color intact. Sheer finish creates he most natural, stained looking lips. Sme- matte produces velvety, full bodies lips. Finally, satin fashions creamy, moist looking lips. Schiap is Semi- matte fuchsia

My thoughts:
- Vibrant color!
- Didnt find it drying
- Lasted long enough. I ate dinner and I still had lipstick on (wasnt completely perfect, but not bad)

  • Moon Fleet Lipgloss

Image taken from Sephora

What Sephora says:
The portable tube and sponge wand make applying these pigment-dense glosses a snap. Moon Fleet is Clear with silver and gold flecks

My thoughts:
- Moon fleet is a great gloss to top over a lipstick. Its sheer but the subtle shimmer ads more dimension to the lips.

  • Eyebrow Enhancer in Ipanema

Image taken from Sephora

What Sephora says:
Nars Eyebrow Pencils are available in three natural shades to define and sculpt brows. Ipanema is a neutral ash brown shade.

My thoughts:
- This is one of the best eyebrow pencils ive tried.
- If you arent a fan of semi-waxy eyebrow pencils, this ones for you.
- This makes yur brows look naturally well groomed.
- I havent used a pencil for quite some time, so I did have a little difficulty applying it.
- I only wish it was a little cheaper haha.

  • Loose Powder in Eden

Image taken from Sephora

What Sephora says:
Translucent and extraordinarily lightweight, Nars Loose Powder sets makeup and creates a more natural finish. The enclosed powder puff can be used for medium to full application. For lighter coverage a loose powder brush is preferable.

My thoughts:
- Helped a little to prevent creasing
- But I think ive gotten so used to the RCMA powder that any other powder just doenst compare. For one, its isnt as finely milled.
- It didnt seem to go invisible after and I dont think the finish was very natural looking.

Final Verdict, I think ill stick to blushes, bronzers and highlighters when it comes to Nars. Though im curious about the cream shadow base that they have. The lipsticks and glosses are great too. Im still lemming on turkish Delight, but it was sheer when I tested it.

*Please remember that this is simply my own opinion of the products. Some products may not work for me but may work well for you.
