Ruby Woo!

Since my train case was getting a little too over crowded I decided it was about time to depot some of my eye shadows.

Pinks/Corals and my other homeless shades haha :)

1st row L-R: Pen N' Pink, Hot Ho Hot, Maira's Mood, Shale, Vibrant Future
2nd row L- R: Perky, Coppering, LaLa, Nocturnelle, Chrome Yellow
3rd row L-R: Free to be, Expensive Pink, Creme de Violet, Shadowy lady, Golden Rod

And of course, depotting means Back to M.A.C.! For those who are not aware of what back to M.A.C. is, its a recycling program and a good one actually! You return 6 empty M.A.C. containers and in exchange you get a free product. Here in the Philippines, you get to choose from selected lipstick shades.

I actually never wear red lipstick, but the last time I visited a counter to exchange some of my depotted items I saw that Russian Red was available for back to mac so I decided to try it and fell in love. It was however, out of stock so I decided to get Twig instead. This time hoping that theyd have Russian Red, I visited the counter but alas! still no Russian Red. Gee Vee from M.A.C. Glorietta suggested Ruby Woo which is a matte red lipstick that is pretty close to Russian Red.

Swatches:

I really dont like how the swatched came out in te photos. Looks a bit pinkish red which I do not like haha but in person it looks much darker, I think my camera is able to pick up more of the pinker tones.

What it is:
- Matte, Vivid bluish-red
- Permanent
- Retials for $14.00 (plus tax) and around 950 Php (i think?)

I liked Russian Red because first off it wasnt drying, it did not smudge and budge even after eating and drinking, it was easy to remove and didnt leave me with red stained lips. With Ruby Woo, its almost the exact same thing it faded just a bit after eating but it felt really dry.

Some tips for using matte lipsticks or lipsticks with a drying formula:
  • Exfoliate your lips. You can use a toothbrush or one of those scrubs that are meant for your lips.
  • Apply lip balm. Apply it before you start your makeup application so it will have time to really sink in to your lips.
  • You can also top it with gloss (but that kinda defeats the whole reason why you got a matte lipstick haha)

Swatches: M.A.C. Eyeshadow Suite

Shallow v. Deep

Sweet Liason

Swatches
(first 2: Sweet Liason, Next 2: Shallow v. Deep)

This is the first time i've tried the eyeshadow suites and ive noticed that the first color (the bigger one) is usually shimmery an quite sheer wile the second color is much darker, which can be used as the second color or crease color.

I dont think this is locally available, actually I only see this at CCO ( The Cosmetics Company Store). They cost $11.25 plus tax. I think it's a great deal for people who dont really plan on using a whole lot of eye makeup. The 2 shades can be used when you dont feel like making a big fuss in the morning and want to look a little more polished than the usual.

At first glance: L'oreal Telescopic Explosion Mascara

I dont really splurge on mascaras. I think out of all makeup products, I hate buying mascaras the most because I find them so disposable. A mascaras shelf life is around 2- 3 months. I never get to finish one tube by the time I have to dispose them.

I usually go for Lancome Mascaras though because they work so well, theyre lengthening and volumizing as they claim to be. However, I got curious to try a new one. The Telescopic Explosion Mascara, I really like the wand cause its so cute haha. And it looks like it would make mascara application on other people a lot easier.

See, doesnt it look like a medieval weapon up close? haha

A few years ago, I got to try the first (I think?) Telescopic mascara it came in that gold tube and had a slightly curved wand. I loved how it lengthened my lashes but personally I needed a more volumizing mascara.

A bit of product sticks on the wand

No mascara vs. Curled lashes with Telescopic Mascara

Curled lashes, no mascara VS. Curled lashed with Telescopic Mascara

Initial Review

What I like about it:
- Honestly, I really just like the cute wand haha
- The wand grabs just the right amount of product to prevent clumping
- Allows you to brush on the lashes much easier than regular mascara wands
- Stays put. Ive washed my face and there was minimal smudging. You really need a makeup remover to get rid of it though with just a few swipes of makeup remover its completely gone.

What you should consider:
- I have to bring up my letter to Loreal again, haha. This isnt locally available, booo!
- Though the wand prevents clumping, quite a bit of product gets stuck to the stick of the wand. If you dont apply the mascara at the right angle, you'll end up with clumped lashes
- Im not particularly impressed with the formula, I dont find it lengthening or volumizing.

I'll post an update on this after i've road tested it for quite some time. Overall, its a good mascara to use especially if use false lashes. If you need more volume and lengthening though, this isnt for you.

Surprise!

Now I know I havent been a very dutiful blogger haha so to make up for the lack of posts, I decided to try something new today! A video tutorial! haha well sort of. Ive been asked by a few to do a video and here is me trying to do a video haha.

I just recorded a video on how I do my foundation, conceal and contour. I did a video on how I do my eyebrows and eye makeup too but it was starting to get dark so I trashed those, maybe next time.

And so for the very first time, my nekkid face will make its debut on the world wide web! Que horror! See how much I love you guys! haha. Anyway, here is how I do makeup when I want full coverage without looking like I have too much piled on. The stippling brush allows me to apply a sheer amount of foundation evenly and give full coverage as opposed to using a regular foundation brush.

The image that shows up before you play it is way too funny! haha. This is a 3 part video because I didnt have that fast forward thingy effect on my video editor and its pixelated!! oh wells =)

Part 2

Part 3

If youre not going to apply eye makeup, just fill in your brows curl your lashes and make sure you apply foundation on your eyelids as well. I left mine bare because I will eventually apply on a lid primer. Theres 2 more parts of this video, one where I draw on my eyebrows and do my eye makeup. Im still thinking of whether I should redo those and post it maybe when I get too bored again haha
.

I need a better program to edit videos the one im using sucks haha. I want that fast forward like effect to make the video shorter. Any suggestions? =)

Product Review: Himalaya Herbals

Hello, back as promised haha. Im going to review two skin care products that I've been trying for more than a month. Took me a while to review these products because I wanted to make sure I got at least a month in of trying them. These products are from Himalaya Herbals, a range of natural, effective and safe products that use rare herbs carefully selected from the foothills of the Himalayas.

I first purchased the Neem foaming face wash when I was looking for a product that would help when my skin got irritated and flaky after I tried using the Lulur bar. My skin is kind of sensitive, so I have to watch what I use or else it tends to act up or worse break out!

Anyway, on to the review!! :D

Left: Neem Foaming Face Wash;
Right: Purifying Mud Pack

Purifying Mud Pack

What it claims:
Firms, tihtens and rejuvenaes the facial skin and keeps it young. Imparts a natural glow. A mineral rich Mud Pack that absorbs excess oil, cleans clogged pores and removes blackheads and deeply embedded impurities. Restores your skin's elasticity and improves skin texture. Helps control blemishes and blackheads and minimises wrinkles.

The ingredient Fuller's Earth deep cleanses the skin and has cooling properties. Walnut removes skin impurities, blakheads and dead cells. Mineral Clay heals, improves circulation and makes the skin soft and supple.
Directions:
Mx the pack with water to make a thin paste. Apply evenly over a cleansed face and neck, avoiding area around the eyes. Allow to dry 10-15 minutes. Remove with wet sponge, and wash the skin with cool water. Use once or twice a week. Follow up with Himalaya Herbals Face Moisturizing Lotion

Ingredients:
Mineral Clay, Fuller's Earth, Khu-khus, Walnut, aqua, glycerin, bentonite, methyl paraben, 2-bromo-2-nitropropane-1, 3-diol. Sodium EDTA, Xanthan gum, Sodium lauryl sulphate, Fragrance

What I like about it:
- I like that my skin feels tight after. Not tight like its super dry, but it's almost like I can feel my pores closing up.
- My face feels squeeky clean after washing it off.

What you should consider:
- I wouldnt say that this mask helps keep breakouts at bay or gets rid of blackheads or impurities.
- I avoid applying this on areas of my skin which are sensitive or my dry areas (chin, mouth area)

Overall, I think it's a so-so product. Im not really impressed with it, ill probbly keep using it since I dont want it to go to waste but I wouldn't repurchase.

Neem Foaming Face Wash

what it claims:
Soap free daily use gentle foaming face wash to cleanse and refresh your skin without over drying. Leaves your skin clear, soft and supple. The soft and gentle foam of Neem foaming face wash spreads smoothly over your face and deep cleanses your skin by removing excess oil and impurities. Unlike soaps, Neem foaming face wash does not leave the skin dry and feeling stretched. Neem and Tumeric well known for their purifying functions, clear facial skin of blemishes

Directions:
Moisten face and spread foam gently all over face. Wash off and pat dry.

Ingredients:
Neem, Tumeric, Vetiver, Aqua, BHT, Citric Acid, Cocamidopropyl betaine, Dimethicone copolyol, Disodium EDTA, DMDM hydantoin, Perfume Floraherb inde, polypropylene terephthalate, Polysorbate 20, Sodium laureth sulfate, CI No. 19140 & CI. No. 42090

What I like about it:
- Its light but at the same time it cleanses the face very well. I usually have to wash my face twice whenever I remove my makeup because I fell like it doesnt really get rid of the makeup, but with this one, I see all the makeup it removes as soon as I spread it on my face.
- Its very gentle and non drying.
- It helped get rid of my flaky and patchy areas of my skin.
- I like that it comes with a pump that makes it more sanitary

Im on my second bottle and will definitely repurchase when I run out again!

It's always a hit or miss whenever trying out new products. I purchased the mud pack after I finishedmy first bottle of the foam wash thinking it would deliver as well. Have any of you tried any of these? How do you like em? Any suggestions for a great mask? :D
