Nurse Maui

Will make this quite brief. I will be taking a short break from blogging for a while. A few days, or a week at the most. Its really hard to post something and try to be cheerful and enthusiastic about things that I love when im not in such mood.

Our dog has been sick for almost a month now. And he doesnt seem to be getting better. I actually have more time to blog or write something since I have to sit beside him the whole day or else he would cry or bark hehe ( just like a baby) but yeah, im in a pretty miserable mood right now. Anyway, I dont want to dampen anyone else's mood. So thats it for now. Will post the nurse request soon as I can. Have a great weekend everyone

Swatches, Dupes and Reviews

Making up for no post days, Sweets! Swatches, Dupes and Reviews! :)

Ive been stressed out lately and its taking a toll on my already super bad sleeping habits = poor skin. So i havent done any eotd or fotd. ya'll dont need to see me all stressed out and gross haha. Okay on to the post.

Lipgloss

Mars from Mars Simpsons! was asking me where to find good yet affordable lipgloss. Until this year, I havent been much of a lippie person. So I only own a few (and mostly just from m.a.c.). And though I like their lipglass they dont actually fall under the category of affordable. A few days ago I saw some swatches of the lipgloss from bench (im sorry i'd post the link but I cant remember where I saw them :/ ) Anyway decided to check them out. There are tons of lip stuff at herbench I was pretty amazed haha. They have ones that look like dazzleglass and they have a lot of lipsticks too.

The ones I got are called Paint Box Color Sheen lip gloss. I think there are about 6. I swatched them all but forgot to take a picture. Most of the shades are pinkish though. I got Polished Plum (which I think is a darker dupe of M.A.C.'s lipglass in nymphette) and Sheer Pink (which reminds me of NARS Turkish Delight --lemming on that). Though I wouldnt say theyre as pigmented, I actually do like them!

Mars also asked about the taste and smell of the alternative/cheaper lipgloss. Well, it doesnt really taste like anything (I dont suppose you'll be licking them purposely anyway hehe). The smell is okay, its not repulsive but its not the best smelling one out there.

Paint Box Color Sheen Lip Gloss

No Flash and With Flash

Left: Sheer Pink; Right: Polished plum

What they look like on me, my lips are very pigmented
. A bit messy applied them very quickly hehe
Left: Polished Plum - Sheer plum with gold flecks
Right: Sheer Pink - Nude Light Pink (better with something under if you have pigmented lips*)

DAMAGE: 178 PhP

Rating: 4 out of 5

Why you should buy it:
-Pretty shades!
-Cheaper and comparable to expensive ones
-Not super sticky like M.A.C.'s lipglass (if you dont like that)
-Very shiny! hehe
-Sheer and feels light ( you wont feel like you have tons of gunk on your lips haha)

What you should consider:
- I dont like the lip wand it comes with
-For swatching purposes, you'll get a decent amount with one dip. But actually putting it on your lips may take a couple more.
-If your lips are very pigmented, the colors may not show as well.*

* If your lips are very pigmented you can use a nude lipliner to shade your lips and then apply lipgloss or apply a small amount of flesh toned concealer on your lips just enough to conceal your lips natural pigmentation and then apply the gloss. And flesh toned please (similar to your skin tone) do not put very light concealer on your lips, its not pretty making 0.0 haha. Or apply over your favorite lipstick!

Okay, next. Told you Im trying to make up for no post days! :)

M.A.C.'s Studio Moisture Cream vs. M.A.C. oil control lotion

First off, I hope you guys moisturize. Oily skin is a common problem especially for us who live in the Philippines. Where its hot and humid practically the whole year! But did you know, that the more you try to make your face dry with products (esp. alcohol - I know someone who does that!) the more it'll produce oil. Yeah so its actually pointless. What you need are products that help maintain your skins balance and helps control oil.

Which brings us to...tenen! LOL M.A.C's Oil Control Lotion vs. M.A.C. Studio Moisture Cream. I was using M.A.C's Studio Moisture Cream but decided to get the oil control for when I go back to the Philippines figured I might need something to keep the shine to a minimum.

M.A.C. Studio Moisture Cream 50 mL

Damage: I actually cant remember. I got the one with the old packaging at CCO too.
Rating: 5 out of 5

Why you should buy it:
- I bought this during Winter and my skin was super flaky and dry and itchy. It might sting a little ( a very very very little - and I think thats expected) when you apply it to dry, flaky windburned? spots but it does get rid of it after continued use.
-I like the smell, it smells the same as the oil control lotion but the scent lasts longer and a bit stronger than the oil control's.
- It hasnt broken me out
-Creamy but not heavy.
-You wont need a lot.

What you should consider:
-Your skin type. I have combination skin but your skin needs extra moisture during Winter. But on non Winter months or countries that dont have Winter, best to skip it unless you have dry skin.

M.A.C. Oil Control Lotion 50 mL

Damage: I also got this at CCO and cant remember how much I got them.
Rating: 5 out of 5

Why you should buy it:
- Its not greasy and very lightweight. You wont feel like youre melting haha.
- Im not quite sure if its water based but it does seem like it from the texture
- Since it practically wont melt off my face, it does seem to keep the shine at bay.
- I do like the smell and its quite faint and goes away after a minute or two.
- It hasnt broken me out.
-You dont need to use a lot of product.
- I dont see this as drying or anything in the extreme that might make dry skin worse so I think its safe to use on any skin type.

What you should consider:
- This is not a miracle product! At the very most, it lessens shine because it isnt as heavy as other face moisturizers.
- You'd still have to blot your face once in a while esp. on very hot and humid days.

* I rated both 5 out 5 because for a very long time, I stopped moisturizing my face. The very first time I did, I used Pond's ( I forgot what its called - they came in those am and pm jars. the blue and white ones) Anyway, So I used those for about a month and started noticing that my pores were getting clogged and I broke out too. The M.A.C. moisturizers have never broken me out.

Left: Oil Control Lotion; Right: Studio Moisture Cream

Applied on Skin.
Top: Studio Moisture Cream; Bottom: Oil Control Lotion

Blended. I applied a bit too much of the Studio Cream but it goes on clear after blending but you can see how they differ in forumula and texture.

If youre interested you may check the prices at M.A.C.'s website: LINK

Cinema Secrets Concealer/ Color Corrector Palette kit #2 Swatch

Click on the images to view them in full size :D

Concealer/ Color Corrector Kit#2

These are heavily packed/applied for swatching purposes. They can go as sheer as you want them to and layer them as needed. Theyre not as dark as when they're in the container because theyre very pigmented thats why you only need a very small amount.

I didnt get to swatch them before, though i've reviewed these 3 times LOL. So I wont go into details about them anymore. If you want to read my reviewS on them you can find them
HERE, HERE (2) and OVER HERE

Goodies

Ordered a few Corrector/Concealer Palettes to sell on my multiply store. They finally arrived today! yay! Im thinking of keeping one as backup lol but we'll see. Ordered one RCMA no color/invisible setting powder and an RCMA Transclucent powder as well. Not much of a difference to me though, the translucent one looks like it just has a hint of color.

3 kit #2's and 2 of kit #1

Kit #1 on top and Kit#2 bottom. Translucent Powder on the Left and No Color on the Right (barely any difference right?)

Kit#1 for light to medium light ; Kit #2 for medium light skin to dark skin. Conceals practically anything from red spots and blmishes, muddy brown areas and undereye cirlces.

My Review on the concealer Palette and Invisible setting powder over here: CLICK ME, ME and ME! ( what can I say, I like talking about things that work haha)

If youre interested you may email me or leave me a message via ym (sooo_sheee@yahoo.com) or fill out an order form over here! ORDER FORM to take a look at what else I have on my multiply store you can check it out over here: GLITZANDGLAM

Escada Ocean Lounge

Received this as a birthday present from my Aunt (Thanks Tita Charry! :D ). Always sprayed some of this on whenever I saw it in Macy's or Sephora. I love love love this! Love the fresh fruity scent. Reminds me of Fresh Strawberries or Raspberries. If you take a whiff of it from the bottle, it may seem too sweet. But when sprayed on it has this hmmm fresh scent to it, making the sweet smell not too overpowering.

I got the 50 ml that came with a 50 ml Moisturizing body lotion and a small red bag. I think the set is available at Macy's. Im not sure where to get this locally, probably Rustans?

Sephora describes it as : "the evocative, new, limited edition fragrance from Escada, is a blend of fruity overtones and floral undertones that meld to create a fresh, modern scent that evokes the spirit of summer"

Notes: Lychee, Plum, Pear Nectat Accord, Strawbery Meringue Accord, Violet Petal Sorbet, Mimosa Blossom, Jasmine, Amber, Sheer Vanilla, Teak Wood.

Happy Wednesday

Had a fun day yesterday. Finally went out and did something lol. Went to see GI Joe and The Time Traveler's Wife and did a little bit of gawking at Shang (but was able to restrain myself from buying anything) and had some drinks after.

I know im a tad bit late with the GI Joe Movie. But I did enjoy it, somewhat. Typical guy movie hehe. Not really a fan of movies with a lot of action whatever. I felt like the movie was prolonged with a lot of action scenes which of course does not interest me. But thats just me haha. I'd give this movie a 3 out of 5. Fairly amusing and didnt put me to sleep.

The Time travelers wife on the hand was good. Not spectacular, but good. I felt that there were a lot of scenes from the book that were missing. So if you havent read the book, you wont really get the whole "emotional impact". I actually hesitated to watch it, cause I was going to be with someone ( a guy) and I didnt want to be sobbing. But we did watch it and I did cry (probably much to his amusement haha) and tried not to cry after while we were walking around talking about the movie and some of the parts that were not in the movie. The cast was good though, probably what made the movie great. They were able to capture the character I envisioned from reading it. 5 out of 5 for Rachel Mcadams stellar performance! haha!

So while I managed to stop myself from buying makeup. I found this! at a japanese? store in Robinson's Galleria

I was originally looking for something similar but one thats used to hold file folders. I didnt find any at National Bookstore. So, was happy to find this. Would've liked it better if it was in some other color. But good enough, serves the purpose! haha Its a dish rack/stand btw. I got it for 85PHP (roughly around $1.80), I think everything in that store is 85 pesos hehe. Now I just need one palette to fill the last empty slot! haha Always have to find an excuse to justify buying makeup! :D

Pledge

A non makeup post to change things up hehe. As some of you know, ive been a Pescetarian for over a year. I first started out as a vegan but found it difficult to find other things to eat. I am a bit monotonous with food, but you can imagine how hard it was for someone who loves food to just give up all kinds of meat. I had planned to become a Vegan for months and set a date. But saw some PETA videos that made me realize that I didnt have to wait, I should just do it now! haha that wasnt very hard after watching the videos.

I dont remember how long I went without meat, but after a while I switched to a diet with fish - Pescetarianism (though some Vegans dont agree or wish not to be associated with Pescetarians) There are tons of reasons to go veg. You might want to shed a few pounds, be healthier or want to be more compassionate. I personally decided to stop eating poultry because I feel bad about the way these animals are treated and I dont want to be a part of that cruelty.

This is not a blog post meant to make meat lovers feel guilty. I indulge myself with some meat on very special occassions :)

I got an email from PETA about the 10 best Vegan Restaurants in the Philippines ( i'll continue about that in a bit) and stumbled upon their Pledge to be Veg page. Ive decided to go straight vegan again for at least a month. And encouraging everyone or anyone else whos interested to do it with me! :) You may take the pledge HERE. It doesnt have to be now, but consider it. A month is just a month. Im sure it'll make you feel better and it'll be a way to bust that myth that going without meat makes you weak!

By pledging to go Vegan on the website, you'll receive tips and recipes to make things easier. You may also read my post on what it was like for me when I first transitioned into this lifestyle over HERE. Ive posted some helpful links on that post including the link to the Free Vegetarian Starter Kit (contains information, recipes, a magazine featuring artists and celebrities who are Vegans and why they decided to go veg and cute little stickers too!)

Think about it, pledge and i'd love to hear how the experience was for you! BTW, are there any vegans residing in the Philippines out there? hello? yoohoo? hehe Please do send me a message or an email about your experience and what youve been eating? haha :D

Top 10 Vegan Restaurants in the Philippines
(listed by PETA Asia Pacific)

You may view the complete article over here
: PETA

1. Azotea Greens - Baguio City
2. Bliss Cafe - Baguio City
3. Bodhi/Evergreen - Most SM Malls
4.Corner Tree Cafe - Jupiter, Makati
5. Daily Veggie N' Cafe - Quezon City
6. Greens Cafe and Restaurant - Scout Castor Quezon City
7. Hapilife Healthy Food Corner - West Tapinac, Olongapo City
8. Ima's Gulay Bar - Puerto Princesa City, Palawan
9.Mandala Spa - Boracay Island, Malay, Aklan
10. The Farm - San Benito, Batangas

Dining out when youre a vegan in the Philippines can be quite difficult. Too bad most of the Restos listed are too far from where I live. But will definately try to go to some of them.

Pretty Dramatic

Heavy Drama and quite intense. People would probably gawk at me if i wore this out during daylight haha. Attempted to do a look from Petrilude again. This is a look he made inspired by Jafar from Disney's Alladin. He is so talented and so creative! This ones pretty different. Im used to working my way from the lid up. With this one, you had to start from the brow area down. Anyway, if you want to try this one as well, you may do so by following this LINK.

Did a bad job on the inner corner eyeliner, I dont think its even and a little thick. But I got lazy to fix it haha. Im definately going to try it again though, like how it makes your eyes look HUGE. Anyway, here are the pictures
