As if no typhoon would stop us, Caby and I got ready to head out to to the Metro Weddings event yesterday thinking it wouldn't be so bad. We decided to stop by a friend's house to avoid traffic and started heading home by around 10pm. Which was when the winds started to get strong. By the time we got to my house, the winds were really really strong. It was so hard to walk because the wind was blowing me away! hahah

Anyway because of the rain we got stuck in traffic for quite a bit, I got a bit bored and took some photos instead haha. So here are mugshots of myself for the week. Was actually tweaking with camera flash settings hehe.

My Magic (siopao) hair! haha As you know I have very short hair
and it looks really akward when I tie it so I wanted to cover it up with something.
Its actually synthetic hair extension I got at Landmark for P170 pesos!! and I did my hair
in about 5 minutes!

What I used:
- Stila kitten, MAC charcoal Brown, Cranberry, Embark and Coppering
- Stila Smudge pot and in2it gel liner pencil
- Random ardell lashes and MAC Fibre rich mascara

Gel Liners vs. Pencil Liners

I've learned to appreciate applying eyeliner with a brush and gel liner or pencil liner. I find that it gives a more precise application rather than using liquid liner (unless you have super steady hands). I used to be a fan of liquid eyeliner because it was fast and easy to apply...on myself! Not so fast and easy on other people! haha. Plus with most liquid liners, you had to wait for it to get dry unless you want to ruin your eye makeup.

Over time, I've switched from gel and pencil liner depending on what I have. A few posts back, I mentioned that I really liked in2it's pencil liner. I liked that it was affordable (around 300+), very pigmented, doesnt smudge and budge and waterproof. It gives me the same effect as the Stila Kajal Liner without the mess. Granted its called gel liner pencil, well it still is in pencil form with the same effect of a gel and kajal liner.


But lately, I have been using another Stila product. Stila's Smudge Pot in Black, it was part of a set I received as a gift. What I like about gel liners is that I find it more cost effective, a pot lasting me more than an eyeliner pencil would. So now I save my in2it gel liner pencil for lining the waterlines which it is perfect for! =)

In2it Gel Liner Pencil

Pros:
- affordable and locally available
- Water proof and smudge proof (will not transfer on to lower waterliner after applying on upper waterline)
- Creamy and very pigmented
- Has qualities of both gel and kajal liner

Cons:

- Will last for about 1-2 months max with daily use



Stila Smudge Pot

Pros:
- Dries easily so no need to worry about smudging your lids. Stays put and does not smudge even when rubbed
- Does not budge as easily as other gel liners
- Stays creamy even after several uses (remember to keep lid closed tightly)
- More cost effective, one small pot will last you a long long time!

Cons:
- You'd have to shell out more for this (but in the long run, turns out to be more affordable to get this)
- If youre a bit of an OC keeping this sanitized can be tedious



So, who wins? In my book its Stila's smudge pot. Only because it turns out to be cheaper than getting a new in2it gel liner every 1-2 months. Both are great eyeliners though, in my opinion.

Paris and Madison

I'm probably the last person to purchase the styli style liners haha. Decided to get them after getting to try a few at Beauty Bar where they are sold for around 400 I think. But of course I ordered on ebay where it's sold for 50-100 pesos. hehe.

I ordered 9 I think, I cant remember since I still dont have all of it. But for now heres a swatch of the 2 that I already have, Paris and Madison.

I thought it was weird to have frosted violet lipliner
until I saw the marks at the back (eye for eyeliner and lips for lipliner, doh'! haha)

Tip:

- If you can, drop by Beauty Bar and check them out. Swatches on site are usually not accurate. I got Paris which I thought was like a pink lipliner shade and as it turns out its actually a purple eyeliner haha.

- There are different kinds as well. Flat liner pencils, flat liner etc. Also different finishes, make sure you check or ask the seller what kind of liner it is to be sure
- Make sure to get the styli style sharpener which is 150 (I think) the flat liner pencils cant be sharpened by regular sharpeners.

For someone very new to the industry, I feel immensely blessed. I am literally living a dream and often wonder how I have stumbled to where I am now. Lippie of the week

Hello! =) Just a quick post. Wanted to share a lipstick shade that ive been using for the past few days. M.A.C. Twig! Twig is a very versatile shade and kind of neutral so ive been finding myself reaching out for it more often than usual. Especially when im in a hurry and dont want to bother thinking of what lipstick to use.


Twig is a Satin lipstick from the permanent line. And is described as a soft muted brownish pink shade. I love satin lipsticks the most because its long wearing and not drying. Here's a swatch of Twig borrowed from the M.A.C. Website

Swatches: NYX Paris and Power

After beheading most of my lipstick and transferring them into a palette, I realized that I mostly have neutral shades or extreme pinks oranges and red. So I decided to get a few more, I was a few weeks late though. There were only a few shades left at Digital Traincase . But I'm happy with my purchases, thanks Sol!

The 2 lipstick shades I got, Paris and Power. Both shades are pretty =)

Power

I really like Paris, Power is a pretty shade too but I dont think it goes well with my skintone. Power has hints of lavender but it more on the pale pink shade. While Paris is a very girly pink shade.

Day and Night

I've been itching to do purple eye makeup, but haven't had the chance to do it on any recent clients so I decided to do it on myself haha. After going through a pink phase, I think im going through a purple phase. Purple reminds me of Urban Decay which reminds me of Glam Rock, I dont know why haha probably because of how they market the brand. Such a shame I was intimidated by the very colorful and shimmery Urban Decay eye shadows when I had the chance to hoard on them.


Purple eyeshadow is such a pretty shade to use to emphasize brown eyes. I personally like more vibrant shades of purple or light pastel shades of lavander. I find that overpowering my outer v with darker shades of purple tend to make my eyes look muddy and tired. So when I want a purple look thats more suited for a night out, I sweep the darker purple shade all over the lids and turn it into a purple smokey eye look.


Here is a lighter purple EOTD I did. If youre not intimidated by colors this one is pretty easy to do =)



- Apply a light shade of purple/lavander on the lids and top it off with a shimmery neautal e/s ( I used MAC Femme-Fi)
- Apply mid tone purple e/s on the crease and blend upwards. Apply on outer sorner and blend towards the lid.
- Apply white eyeliner on water line. And line lower lashline with the shade you used on your crase.
- Put on eyeliner, curl lashes and apply mascara and youre good to go!


Now heres how I would turn my purple eotd up a notch for a night out. =)



- Having done my eyes with lighter shade of purple, I apply a darker shade of purple all over my lids and lightly blend towards the crease.
- Apply black eyeliner on the water line and make your eyeliner more defined (which I have failed to do in this photo hehe)



Pretty simple, yes? Purple is one of the easier colored shades to do and pull off. Took about 10 minutes to do both looks. It's monday again and its time to go back to the grind. Have a great week! =)

Orly: Iron Butterfly

I've always liked black nail polish but sometimes I find it too severe, so I usually paint my nails with a really dark blue or red polish. While scanning a magazine a few weeks ago, I saw an ad for some metallic matte nail polish. So when I cam across Orly's Metallic Matte nail polish, I couldnt resist. I chose Iron butterfly, thought it looked very glam rock! =)

I love the matte finish, it actually looks like fabric glued on to my nails haha. What I like about it the most is it takes about a minute to dry. When applied, it looks like regular polish but as it dries you'll notice that it quickly turns matte and youre all set. I dont need to stick out my fingers and avoid touching anything in fear of getting my nails ruined.

***EDIT: The SA offered me to get the rubberized base coat, I refused thinking ill be fine without it. But apparently this polish chips very easily. Not more than 6 hours since application, my nails look like ive washed tons of dirty dishes and did the laundry haha

Actually waiting for the Foil FX will definitely get that when I see it in stores :) On a side note, I know I said id be posting and updating my blog more but i've been getting more work recently which is definitely a good thing so yay! I dont know about any of you, but I really hate having my photos taken. Especially those ID photos for important documents such as passports,visas and school requirements. Looking back at all the photos I've gotten over the years make me cringe. The worst photo has got to be my US Visa which was taken about 10 years ago. I wouldnt dare post it, but the officers at the ariport usually ask me if it's really me on the photo haha

So now that im renewing my visa I figured I should make an effort to try and get a more decent one. Imagine, if they actually give me another 10 year visa, id be stuck with another horrible photo for another decade! *cringe*

But alas, everytime I need a decent photo for something as monumental as this, my hair just cracks from the pressure and decides to be iffy. Anyway just posting my mugshot, cropped because my hair just makes it look awful!

I really love RCMA's finish. Gives a somewhat soft-focus and matte finish. Few blemishes here and there but hey, I still think the skin looks pretty fantastic (especially from the before photo whch of course I will not post =p )
